Longpu Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by He Dechang in 1973, and was first cited publicly by Ye Meina, Li Baoxian in 1982. The naming section is located in the area of Longpu Village, Meiyuan District about 20 km southwest of the Yunhe County Town, Zhejiang Province.

Lithology and Thickness
Lower member is composed of dark-green crystal tuffs. Upper member is alternating layers of tuffaceous-material-rich sandy conglomerates and pebble-bearing gritstones together with sandstones, fine-grained sandstones of various thickness, intercalated with carbonaceous siltstones and shales, containing two layers of poor-quality coal, with a thickness of about 640 m.

Lower contact
It is in an unknown relationship with the underlying Huaqiao Fm
Upper contact
Regionally, the schematic strat column indicates the next younger unit as Maonong Fm
Regional extent
The formation is distributed mainly in the areas of Meiyuan of Yunhe County, Chenyuantou of Jingning County and Caikeng of Lishui County. In the area of Caikeng the basal conglomerates of the formation is found to overlie old metamorphic rocks from the Hexi Group. The upper part of the coal series is intercalated with many layers of conglomerates, and its top part contains several layers of thin-bedded vitric tuffs and ignimbrites. The thickness of the formation is changeable greatly, with its maximum thickness being of 2000 m.

Fossils
It yields plant fossils such as Coniopteris neiridaniensis, Clathropteris cf. eleganta, Ptilophyllum yunheensis, Tyrmia nathorsit, Nilssoniopteris jourdyi, Nilssonia pterophylloides and N. crassiaxia. In the area of Caikeng, it yields plant fossils such as Phlebopteris cf. brauni, Sphenobaiera spectabilis, Ferganiella spp. and Glossophyllum? sp.
